The People You Fall In Love With In Your 20s

justaturnofthedial:

You will fall in love with your friends. Deep, passionate love. You will create a second family with them, a kind of tribe that makes you feel less vulnerable. Sometimes our families can’t love us all the time. Sometimes we’re born into families who don’t know how to love us properly. They do as much as they can but the rest is up to our friends. They can love you all the time, without judgement. At least the good ones can.

Imagine a world where not every main female character is a love interest.

Filed under ugh yes this writing reading i think that's what makes middle grade fiction so refreshing because you're writing for an audience that maybe still thinks people are icky cooties and all that and so there is so much more to write about like adventures and real life instead of getting all distracted by boys and girls and crushes and gross like in the manuscript I just read or series of unfortunate events or the wild things there's a lot more happening than just relationships sexual tension and love triangles it's fucking refreshing

Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God’s will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.
